Its a couple of hours to Countdown here in Singapore, but Tania wanted to share a little of her 3rd Christmas with you ...

A package arrived just at Christmas-time; looking at the message, it was obviously for The Princess


A little bit of pouting went on as she had to smile for the camera before she could have it ;-)
We told her what Santa said about "not pouting" ... ;)

Yummy icicles !!!!!

Tania just loves crunching on ice cubes, especially on hot afternoons after a long walk. She stands in front of the fridge, huffs, points to it with her nose, and gives a huge grin. Well yeah .... we Moms are supposed to be mind readers, but then again, I know that familiar "huff". It could only mean one thing ..... ICE CUBES !

We visited the Curious Gardener to catch up on happenings with her new plants and flowers not too long ago, which also doubled up as an outing for Miss Tania to visit her cousins - Cookie & April. Could she sit still for a couple of minutes for me to take a shot of her with the flowers ...... of course not. Clearly her attention was focused on what she was missing out on, keeping her eyes intently on what 'the girls' were doing, but I have to thank her dearly for the few moments of precious her time ;-)

The white Zinnias and yellow Marigolds (behind Miss Tania) were the inspiration for this sweetlet of a necklace.
A beautifully detailed enamelled Zinnia Pendant sits in the centre, from which hangs a pear-shaped 6mm Swarovski Crystal in Golden Shadow, 'capturing' the soft glow of the evening/dusk light gently. Trailing upwards along the golden chains are little czech fire-polish beads, white czech glass flowers (more Zinnias), Topaz Swarovski Crystal Connectors (Marigolds) and etched gold-plated leafy vines.
Length of necklace: 16.5" with an extension chain.

After 3 weeks of wearing a tight cast hoping that my broken metatarsal would fuse on its own, unfortunately it DIDN'T, so I had surgery last week for a little metal itty bitty implant, to do its job with the split bone. Not a huge surgery, but very uncomfortable and cumbersome nonetheless.

I've just started moving around a little the last couple of days, and recuperation is going to be another uncomfortable few weeks with this heavy foot, and I have to wait even longer to start driving, coz its my right foot .... oh man ... !!

Initially, poor Tania would watch worriedly from a distance when she saw me limping strangely with the crutches, but she's more relaxed with it now, and gives me lots of Get Well kisses every day ....

I feel so bad for her, coz when my life is on hold, so is hers.

A Tania-mania week .......

Its been pretty much "Tania-mania" week, with therapy, therapy, therapy.

Zoe is back for only a short period of time, and armed with her course completion of the WaterWork at the PetMassage Institute in Ohio, USA which is a higher level of water therapy to aid dogs like Tania, we brought her for her FIRST ever visit to the beach. Needless to say, it was a very exciting day for her.

After aqua-therapy in the sea, she had physio in the van - with music & aroma-therapy (oh lawd - the Princess, if only I should be so lucky), but to be fair to her however, living with daily pain, she does deserve to be a happy girl :)

She's Back ! She's Back !

Yes, "she's" b-a-c-k from California for a few weeks to check on all her beloved "patients" !!

Tania wouldn't be where she is today without this pair of healing hands since she was 7 months old, after her first hip op., and guess who would have been a total wreck not knowing how to handle her post-op. therapy correctly. That's right - "moi".

BLESSINGS IN OUR GARDEN

In February 2010, we noticed a lovely grey bird, whom I affectionately named 'ABBY', busily gathering little twigs in our Allamanda Flower canopy for a few days; there was an aura of great anticipation and excited chirping from curious birds investigating the rustling noises among the leaves. Lo and behold, 'ABBY' had built a nest and we knew new life was going to happen, again, in our garden. Taking a quick peek into her nest one day when she flew off for food, we were delighted to see 3 little eggs and a few days later, Tania was prancing around that spot excitedly alerting us to the little chirping emanating from the nest ... It was a Happy Day .... New Life - - Blessings in our garden :) !


Observing 'ABBY' during her tenure in our garden was a moving experience. She protected her babies with great fortitude, braving the blazing sun and heavy rains we get during that time of the year .... even the occasional lightning and thunder didn't faze her. Watching her from inside the house whilst it rained, I felt so helpless, but then, I guess being a mother of the feathered kind, that's what comes naturally to them. This is what birds do, everywhere, every minute, and to observe it within "t.v." distance was awesome !!

If you look closely at the pix above, you will see the soft, fluffy yellow feathers of 'ABBY's babies. I shot this pix early in the morning when the rain had stopped. When her nestlings were a little older, we saw her teach them life skills with great pride, to fly, search for food, and it was awesome watching them soaring out of the nest and back in again.

It was a bitter-sweet day for us, when we found the nest empty, and we felt kinda lonely as it was so quiet up there.


I still hadn't identified 'ABBY's species yet, and thanks to Curious Gardener, who has many visitors of the 'feathered' kind to their garden (look under BIRDS Category), we're quite sure it is the Pink Necked Green Pigeon :)

Strangely, two years prior ABBY's short stay in our garden, during the same month in 2008, a similar bird (whom I named 'SOPHIE' - okay ... I'm a nut) and her mate, built their nest in exactly the same spot in the Allamanda canopy, and they had two little babies.

And now, these past few days we've been hearing familiar chirping and some activity in the Allamanda canopy ! Is 'she' or one of them back to start a family ?? ... well, it looks like Miss Tania has the same thing on her mind ... heee ... she's so cute when she's curious .....

Well, there's a saying that "things happen in three's" ..... keeping my fingers crossed :)

.... on a happy note by spending New Year's Eve with one of her most favourite persons in the world... ZOE.
Zoe was sweet enough to squeeze in one more much needed physio session for Tania before she leaves for California again, in a couple of days time.
They exchanged hugs, gifts and goodbyes...till Zoe returns again in mid 2011.
The pampered pot is already chomping (hand-fed, yes) on Zoe's present of smoked ribs, and has a special gift nicely wrapped up for her in return.
