"Prosperi-tree" 2011 (Custom Request)
The Year of the Rabbit is just around the corner, and its that time of the year again, for Reunion Dinners, and dressing up homes for the coming Spring Festival.
Beautiful flowers and "lucky plants" splashing colour and waiting to bring luck to your home are everywhere.
I have wired up my Kumquat Tree again, with 8 "kumquats", the number 8, signifying luck of course. Kumquats symbolize Prosperity, and hence, my "PROSPERI-Tree" :)))
I made a very small & limited number of these boxes a couple of years ago, and was so pleased that I had some buyers in the U.S. and Europe. Check out this link if you'd like the see the previous box I made and a little explanation on luck and kumquats.
Dimensions: 4-1/4" square, has no compartments within, which makes it very versatile as a presentation/keepsake box for a CNY gift or the traditional "red packet" for a dear family member or someone special.
Peridot, Czech Glass kumquats & leaves.

Happy New Year Little Girl .....
Tania gets her first plate of Yusheng, ever!
Yes we broke the rules, but we removed the bits and bobs of ginger, so she got the veggies, salmon and lots of crispies.
Needless to say, she was eyeing the vegetarian spring roll .... yep broke the food rule .... but hey ... it was New Year, and our little girl needs all the luck in the world to get better :)))
Clever girl ... she eats the Yusheng first before the spring roll :))
.jpg)
This was a special yummy moment for her ... ha ha ... she LOVED it !

Good girl - she licked the plate clean !
.jpg)
And right down to the last crispy crumb !

Gong Xi Fa Cai & GRRRRRRReetings
for an upROARiously GRRReat Year of the Tiger to all my loved ones, Flickr buddies and everyone around the world celebrating this auspicious yearly tradition.
Paw-somely yours,
Love,
Tania
~ ~ Can you "spot" me eagerly watching my family assembling the 'yusheng' ingredients ? ~ ~

~ ~ What a colourful plate !!!! ~ ~

All the lucky/colourful ingredients of raw fish (traditionally mackeral) but this year Mummy used salmon as its our favourite (especially Grandma's) - so we had LOTS, shredded green & white radish, shredded carrots, pickled ginger, pomelo, crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, pepper, oil and plum sauce. This year, we also had lots of colourful wiggly-looking crispies. So Yummy !
The tossing was awesome (wish I could hold chopsticks), especially with everyone saying something special each time a different ingredient was added or poured over the salad.
